Blackburn 2 Arsenal 3 (AET)

Blackburn vs Arsenal

The young Gunners have done it again, progressing to their 3rd consecutive league cup semi-final appearance. It looked a cruise in the park after 30 minutes when they went 2-0 up, courtesy of a defensive error. However another 30 minutes later, things changed and Blackburn were leveled with a Santa Cruz double.

At this point, I thought they cannot pull through with Blackburn controlling the game and having chances to take the lead. Song was having a tough time trying to cope with Santa Cruz. And to make matter worse, Denilson got himself sent off needlessly at the end of normal time. With a very young substitute bench (all under 20s), I don't know how Wenger can turn things around if Blackburn had taken the lead...

Luckily they didn't. Against the run of play, Eduardo scored his second of the night with a well taken goal after a through pass from Song... 30 minutes of extra time nearly went to 40 minutes as stoppage was added after an injury to substitute Barazite (the injury looks bad). Still they managed to hold out for a win, despite more pressure from the home side.

Next up, could it be Spurs again?! We shall see...
