New EPL Season
After 3 months of close season suffering from football withdrawal symptoms (erm... ok, not really lah as there was Euro 2008 and some pre-season friendly tournaments around), the EPL finally gets underway.
A pretty good start for the Gunners, winning 1-0 at home to WBA, with Samir Nasri scoring on his competitive debut (a good way to adore himself to the fans). He is certainly better to watch than a certain Belorussian as he knows where the goal is and is not afraid to take a shot at goal given the chance. So it was only one game, but Samir Nasri has shown some good touches and vision with a number of through balls during the game. Overall though, the team did not play that well to build on that early lead. They certainly need to work more on the finishing and kill off the opposition while they have the chance.
And just this morning, Arsenal announced the signing of Mikaël Silvestre from arch rival Man U. I guess SAF thought the player has passed his prime. Though I would like to think he can give our team more experience and depth. But first he would have to win the fans over, which certainly takes time. Remember in 2001, another defender signed from rival Sp*rs and went on to have a pretty good few years here. If Silvestre can achieve the same level of performance, then I think he would be fine. Hope there would be at least one more signing before the transfer window closes.
So next up, a short trip to West London to Craven Cottage. A same result would be good enough for me... :)
