Sunday Soccer... Finally...

It's been N months since I last kicked a ball so when YS asked me to join his friends play this morning , I duly obliged. Actually I was supposed to join them last week when YM (the genius who is not so clever) jio me to go. But I overslept on the occasion (must be farming too much the night before, hehe)...

When I reached, no one that I know of has arrived yet, but there was only one group of players at the field so I guess they must be the one. Within minutes, Newbie (R) arrived together with Spectre (WL). So this is the first time I met Spectre offline and notice that he is a Spurs (arch - rival) fan by the jersey he was wearing.

We started the game as 6 vs 6, and one by one people came... By the time all the people arrived, I think we have about 8 vs 8. As usual, my boots is giving me a lot of problem, cos its too tight... Within 15 ~ 20 minutes into the game, I can feel the blister started to form... arghhh... To make matter worse, I had to slip and fell in my attempt to cross the ball in one of my rare forays upfront. Bad luck I suppose. But still I feel good after playing soccer for the first time in months... Could have enjoyed it more in a better pair of boots...

So things to buy for the coming month would include: a new pair of soccer boots and a new PC perhaps (Comex 2005 coming up, hehe)...

Dinner @ Suntec

Had a dinner appointment with Uni friends on thursday, which is like once in a few months thingy... As usual we went to Suntec for dinner... And we patronized Country Mana this time around... Was suppose to have 7 people turning up, but 2 of them, HW and DL, cannot make it at the last minute due to work commitment...

As usual, arranged to meet at City Hall MRT at around 715pm, but I was a bit late. SK was the first to arrive and think he SMS-ed the rest of us, cos there was no one at the station on time. By the time I reached, which was around 725pm, J had also arrived. As the rest, by now only D and XH, had indicated that they would join later, the three of us made our way to Suntec.

At the dinner, we catch up a bit with each other. SK is going oversea for work for 1.5 years. He'll be leaving in early Nov, so we suggest having a farewell dinner one week before he leaves. We also commented on how come SK can dress less casual when at client side than in his office (which is rather strange). D and XH are still going for their Masters

Went Coffee Bean for some desserts and drinks after dinner. I had ordered a banana cake, which doesn't taste like there's banana inside. Futhermore the cake is hard as a rock!! But no choice, still gotta finish it in the end... As the following day is a working day, therfore we will leave at about an hour later, which is about the time the shop closed...

Chelsea 1 Arsenal 0 (Lost again...)

Watched the Gunners match last night and they lost... sianz... its the way the goal was scored... super lucky for DD, but not so for the Gunners... But never mind still a long way to go... Think they can get better as the season goes... Hleb put in another good opinion IMO...

WP's Bithday Chalet

Seems like a few weeks never write again, so thought maybe can start picking up again...

Anyway went to WP's chalet at Pasir Ris Park this evening. Btw, WP is the new attachment student from NYP. He was under E before she left, think now is being 'transferred' to XY liao... He seems so 乖 when he first came but then after a while... *sigh*... (好八卦的一个小男生喔)...

His birthday is tomorrow monday actually, but booked the chalet for 4 days, each day inviting different group of people. I was pretty honoured to be one of the few to be invited... hehe...

Met up with E, S and XY earlier to shop for WP's present at White Sands. Think the shopping center is really small compared to a lot of others. We were still thinking what to buy for him, though he did mention things related to basketball or a Mazda 6 (since we cannot afford the real thing, we thought of buying him a model instead). In the end, we had to settle for a set of basketball jersey (but not before pondering over the size to get) coupled with a water bottle.

Then we proceed to take the feeder bus to the chalet, but alighted at the wrong bus stop. WP did SMS me on where to alight, but the mesage came a little too late lor... Tried to find the place but eventually decided to call him and ask for direction as this would be more efficient...

Finally, the four of us managed to spot WP who was on his way to fetch us to the chalet. Quite a lot of people were at the chalet already, all of which, I think, are his relative. So we feel a little bit out of place over there and only sat at a corner and had our dinner. After dinner, me, S, WP and XY had a short (really short) mahjong session, while E sat aside and watched us play... The highlight, at least for me, was my 满贯kena 截胡 by S... *diaoz*... It's been a long time since I last played mahjong already, at least I can't remember when was the last time I played liao.

After a while, though, we had to stop our game. Then we waited until after the birthday song was sang and the cake was cut before we left. It's seems good that you get to celebrate your birthday in such a manner...

Curling

Curling is a precision sport similar to bowls or bocce, but played on ice with polished heavy stones rather than plastic balls. The game is generally believed to have been invented in 16th century Scotland, although two paintings by Pieter Brueghel the Elder depict Dutch peasants curling. Whatever the truth of the matter, outdoor curling was very popular in Scotland between the 16th and the 19th centuries when the climate was cold enough to ensure good ice conditions every winter and as a result the international governing body for curling, the World Curling Federation, is based in Perth, Scotland. Curling has been an official sport in the Winter Olympics since the 1998 Winter Olympic Games (some sources also include the competition held in 1924 Winter Olympic Games as an official olympic tournament).
