Taiwan Itinerary At a Glance: Day 3

First destination of the day was Taroko Gorge (太鲁阁).

Taroko Gouge

We took a 20 minute walk along one of the trails, Tunnel of Nine Turns (九曲洞).

Then at another spot, we walk across a bridge, went through a long trail before finally reaching the Eternal Spring Shrine (长春祠). The shrine is made from white marble from the gorge.

Then it was lunch at a restaurant near the Ah Mei tribe performance yesterday. After lunch, there was a tour of the jade and marble factory just beside and also the jewellery shop.

It was another 2 ~ 3 hours of bus journey before we finally arrived at the hot spring hotel at Zhi Ben (知本). We had our dinner, rested for a while before going for the hot spring. The place was very much like a swimming pool. Not the kind of hot spring that I thought, i.e. a natural open area with all the rocks and stones surrounding, hehe... Nonetheless, I felt refreshed after the session.

And the hot spring could be used to boil eggs.

After going to the hot spring, XH suggested to go for supper in a small eatery nearby. This time a bigger group went, like 9 of us. Ordered a lot of food and beer. There was also a coin-operated karaoke machine here. All of us sang a few songs.
