Taiwan Itinerary At a Glance: Day 4
Same early set off to go to Mei Nong Hakka Village (美浓客家村). Along the way, stopped by to buy some jambu (莲雾) and mango freeze.
Arriving at the Hakka Village.
At the Hakka Village, we were given time to tour around. Bought some souvenirs here and the 板条, which was quite famous according to XH.
Then we came to Fo Guang Shan (佛光山). The tour took about 1 hour plus. This is the map of the vicinity.
And there is a gigantic buddha statue.
We went into the Main Shrine (大雄宝殿).
And there was lots of buddha statues as well.
We also went into the Buddhist Museum. And as we were leaving, saw this message at the exit.
Then we were brought to a pearl factory and jewellery outlet, where they sell pearl powder and pearl jewellery.
This is how they grind the pearl into powder.
And the inside of the jewellery outlet.
Next we were on our way to Xuan Tian Temple in Kaohsiung (高雄) with another big statue of 玄天大帝.
Just a bit further down the road was the Spring and Autumn Pavilion (春秋阁). Its signature was the dragon and tiger pagoda. According to forklore, one should enter through the dragon pagoda and exit through the tiger.
Dinner after this and final destination of the day, we went to a night market in Kaohsiung called 新崛江夜市. Perhaps due to the poor weather, there weren't many stalls open and not as crowdy as I thought it would be.
